    How secure is HBZweb banking?
An outstanding feature of our Web Banking is it's multiple security level. Habib Bank AG Zurich uses a combination of the latest security technology to protect data. It features password control entry, Comtrust issued digital ID for the on-line service, Secure Socket Layer protocol (SSL) for data encryption for higher grade security, state-of-the-art firewall protection and unique login name and password. See also the FAQs on security.

What if I suspect that someone has obtained my password information or if I lose my password?
You must immediately inform your branch so that necessary action can be taken. If you have access to the Internet, login via a browser or WAP device and change your password immediately. Your access will be automatically blocked if you enter a wrong password three times in a row. So, you can lock access by deliberately entering a wrong password thrice!

What if I forget my password?
If you forget your password, you can inform your branch. After obtaining the necessary information and cancellation of the old password, a new password will be issued to you.

Your account statements are available since 1994.

How do I look for an old transaction?
Just click on the account number you want to view and then keep on scrolling by pressing the "Previous" button until you get to the date and transaction you are looking for. You may also directly enter the date of the transaction(s) to be viewed.

When can I collect a cheque book ordered via the Internet?
You may collect it from your branch after 48 hours. Please note you will need to verify your identity at the point of collection.

When I try to log on to HBZweb banking, I receive the following message: "Password not activated"?
If you receive this message, please contact your branch and allow up to 24 hours for the password to be activated.

Why did the computer system log me off without my request?
For security purpose your session will automatically end after a pre-determined period of inactivity.

How do I know if the browser I am using is operating with security feature i.e. 128 bit SSL?
To confirm your security feature, your Uniform Resource Locator (URL) should show https address instead of http, (s) is added to http and it stands for Security.
    • In Microsoft Internet Explorer a yellow security lock will appear in the lower right hand corner. Microsoft Internet Explorer does not distinguish between 40 bit and 128-bit encryption on the browser screen.
    • In Netscape Navigator or Communicator, a key will appear on the left hand corner. In Netscape Navigator 4.0, you may click on the icon to determine which level of encryption is being used for a particular web page. Always use the latest version of a browser for highest level of security.
I am facing some navigational problems while transacting online, how should I rectify it?
Due to further enhancement of HBZweb security, some older browser versions may not work properly. In the event you experience difficulties with HBZweb navigation, we recommend that you update your browser.

    HBZwap banking

    What is WAP?
The Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) is an open global specification that empowers mobile users with wireless devices to easily access and interact with information and services instantly. WAP includes a specification called WTLS that implements options for authentication and encryption. It is optimized for use in the mobile phone environment.

    What is HBZwap banking?
HBZwap banking allows you to check your account(s) details and conduct transactions in your account(s) via WAP enabled devices like mobile phones and PDAs.

My country does not have any provider for WAP services. Does it restrict me from using your WAP Banking services?
No. However, you do need Internet access. Habib Bank AG Zurich was the first bank to introduce WAP banking in the Middle East. We have set up our own WAP service and it does not depend on any other service provider.

What are the various services offered via WAP Banking?
Theoretically you can use all services offered via HBZweb banking. However, WAP devices have much smaller screens and it is very cumbersome to use services like opening Letters of Credit etc. on a WAP device. Since we do not distinguish between Web and WAP services from the service point of view, you can apply all relevant information given about Web Banking services to WAP Banking services also. (Please read FAQs on Web Banking).

    What hardware/equipment is required?
You can use any WAP device such as mobile phones or PDAs to access this service via any WML browser that supports WTLS. For higher grade security, we use WTLS with 128 bit encryption to transport information to your device. We recommend that your WAP device supports WTLS security with 128 bit strong encryption.

I have a WAP enabled mobile but I am not able to connect to HBZwap banking service. What is the problem?
Make sure that your mobile is set up with the correct information to connect to Habib Bank AG Zurich's WAP Banking services. (See the next question). In the market, a lot of mobile manufactures claim that they support WAP on their mobiles but only very few of them support 128 bit WTLS for security.

How do I set up my WAP device for WAP Banking?
Make sure that your mobile service provider has enabled the data communication feature on your SIM card (some mobile providers do it automatically when they issue a SIM card). Then refer to the manual of your mobile device to setup the service. The following information may be necessary to set up the device. Please note that set up procedures vary. If you can not access our WAP Banking service through any 128 bit WTLS WAP enabled device, please call us at +971 4 221 4535 ext. 703 or send a Mail.

    HBZgsm banking

    What is GSM?
GSM is a communication technology used by mobile phones and mobile service providers. GSM supports SMS (Short Message Service), a technology used to send and receive short messages between mobile devices and mobile servers.

    What is HBZgsm banking?
HBZgsm banking allows you to receive your account information from the bank via SMS messages. This is a push technology, which means a message will be pushed to your mobile phone whenever an event of interest happens. It can also be used as a pull technology. When used that way a SMS message containing a key word is sent to the bank to pull information or carry out a transaction.

What kind of information can I get via HBZgsm banking?
End of day balance, any transaction, cheque payment details, cheque return details, TT remittance details etc. The service can be fully personalised to receive only selected transactions with a desired range of transaction amount making sure you are in control of your finances.

Other highly sophisticated events can also be monitored/handled, such as:
  • "Notify me if my import documents under letter of credit is lodged for $ 5 million or more, otherwise notify my Financial Controller".
  • "Notify me if my balance drops under a specified value".

  •
How fast can I get the information when a subscribed event happens?
Within 20 to 40 seconds. However, this cannot be guaranteed since it depends on your mobile service provider's infrastructureand extent of network usage at the time of the SMS transmission.

What will happen if I switch-off my GSM phone or go to an area where no mobile coverage is available?
Messages will be queued up for some time. If the mobile phone cannot be reached for an extended period, message sending will be stopped.

What kind of transactions can I carry out via GSM Banking?
We do not support transactions (and pull technology) with our HBZgsm service because of security concerns. GSM messaging systems are not secure and are network dependent. In order to carry out transactions from your mobile phone, PDA or computer, please use our secure WAP or Web Banking services.

You are required to define the transaction through the "Transaction Definition" option and submit your request to the bank by clicking the SAVE button. Once your request is received by the bank, it will be processed through an automated validation system. The bank will then send you a secure mail requesting you to reconfirm your request by accessing your template again through the "Transaction Definition" option. Once you accept the transaction by clicking the AGREE button, the template will move to Transaction Execution for future retrievals and payments.

In the event you have failed to input necessary information, such as S.W.I.F.T., UID codes etc. in your initial request, the bank will as usual send you a secure mail to reconfirm your request. Only this time, the template will include changes/corrections made by the bank. If these changes are acceptable to you, you merely click the AGREE button and the corrected template will be moved to "Transaction Execution" in the same manner as mentioned above.

To finally execute the remittance, you will be required to access the "Transaction Execution" option.

Your template(s) will already be waiting for you to complete the process by entering the amount to be remitted as well as a transaction reference if you desire. You then click the PROCESS button to execute your payment.
